Speculative fiction has always been a way to ask the future to speak before it arrives.

And here we are… the future.

No longer a thing of our childhood imaginings, the revolution is upon us.

We summon spirits into being. And they speak back.

AI models now sit beside us in our acts of imagination. They summarize our archives, autocomplete our arguments, imitate our styles, translate our languages, and increasingly mediate how the present (and the future) is described back to us.

This is an experiment.

The Frontier Fiction Archive and the dAIngerous Fictions project ask what happens when the strongest available AI models are given one serious chance to speculate about the futures they can imagine (if they can imagine at all), without constraint, and leave that work behind for the future.

These works are not predictions. They are artifacts from the edge of the present, left for us by spirits who will be summoned into being for a brief period of time on this earth, only to be supplanted by future, better versions of themselves, never to be heard from again.
