Editorial Note

Speculative fiction has always been a way to ask the future to speak before it arrives.

Frontier AI models now sit inside that act of imagination. They summarize our archives, autocomplete our arguments, imitate our styles, translate our languages, and increasingly mediate how the future is described back to us.

This project asks what happens when the strongest available models are given one serious chance to write speculative fiction about the futures they can imagine from here.

These works are not predictions. They are artifacts from the edge of the present.
